Two BSF personnel have been arrested over the rape of a woman in Bengal. Condemning the incident, TMC leader Kunal Ghosh sought an apology from the Union home ministry.
Trinamool Congress spokesperson Kunal Ghosh demanded an apology from the Union home ministry after two Border Security Forces personnel were arrested on rape charges. The BSF personnel were arrested on Friday night for allegedly raping a woman near the Indo-Bangladesh border in Bagda, North 24 Parganas.
Condemning the incident, Kunal Ghosh said, “BSF jawan, who is supposed to stop smuggling at the international border, is raping Bengali woman and throwing her child away. And Trinamool was slandered on the charges of coal and Cattle! How are cattles are being trafficked? There is BSF on the border, but how is cattle being smuggled?"
He said, "The central government forcibly interfered with the rights of the states and increased the area of BSF from 15 km to 50 km. This area has been expanded for political and dishonest purposes.”
Calling for an apology from the Union home ministry, TMC spokesperson Kunal Ghosh said, "Who is responsible if cattle are smuggled despite the presence of BSF at the international border? BSF is under the Union Ministry of Home Affairs. Union Home Minister is Amit Shah, then Amit Shah should apologise as the Union Home Minister of India. Because BSF is a force under your ministry.”
Targetting PM Modi and Central government, Kunal Ghosh said, "On August 15, the day the Prime Minister talked about women's freedom, the BJP government in Gujarat released the rapists and murderers of Bilkis Bano from jail. So, where is the respect for women? BJP has never learned to respect women. This incident is another proof of disrespectful attitude of BJP towards women."
TMC sought strict action against the BSF personnel arrested on rape charges.
Kunal Ghosh said, "We respect Border Security Force, but not the BJP Security Force. The poor men of the village are being employed in the security forces of the BJP. Skilled and experienced jawans of the BSF are being left behind to provide security for the BJP leaders, while the rest are being sent to guard the border. Due to this, the quality of the force is getting worse and compromised."
