TMC demands apology, thorough probe after BSF jawans arrested for rape

Trinamool Congress has demanded an apology and sought a thorough probe after two BSF personnel were arrested for rape.
Trinamool Congress on Sunday hit out at the Centre over the arrest of two Border Security Force (BSF) personnel on the charge of raping a woman and demanded a thorough probe. A TMC delegation visited the Bagda border outpost and asked the home ministry to take responsibility.

The BSF personnel were arrested on Friday night for allegedly raping a woman near the Indo-Bangladesh border in Bagda, North 24 Parganas. The suspects, identified as SP Chero, an assistant sub-inspector of the 68 battalion, and constable Altab Hossain, were handed over to the West Bengal Police for further legal action.

The jawans have been suspended and a court of inquiry has been ordered against them, said an official of the South Bengal frontier, BSF.
