
Time to repay party's debt: Sonia Gandhi’s message on Day 1 of Chintan Shivir

Congress President Sonia Gandhi, in her opening remarks at the Nav Sankalp Shivir, clearly pointed out that the axis around which the entire marathon discussion will revolve: “Congress has given us all a lot and now, the time has come to pay its debt.”
Party is supreme: this is the clear message from the Congress leadership if the development on the first day of the party’s Chintan shivir is something to go by.

After detailed discussion with a host of leaders, the two main agendas of the conclave emerged. Firstly, the Congress will contemplate in detail how to strengthen the organisation and secondly, how to be a powerful opposition and be battle-ready to take on the BJP in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.

All the six committees - political, economy, organisation, agriculture, youth and social justice and empowerment - are brainstorming the issues related to the organisation and the current political situation in depth.
The Congress is all set to take decisions that will alter the way the principal opposition party functions. This will include changes at both the top and the bottom levels of the organisation.
Just hours ahead of the Nav Sankalp Shivir in Udaipur, Congress General Secretary Ajay Maken set the stage for “big bang” changes that will be initiated to revamp the party after the “Udaipur Declaration” is passed by the working committee on Sunday.
