New Zealand coach Gary Stead revealed that wicket-keeper batsman Tim Seifert, who had contracted coronavirus during the recently-suspended Indian Premier League in India, has tested negative for Covid-19 and is on his way back home. Seifert, who represented Kolkata Knight Riders in IPL 2021, had tested positive for the coronavirus on May 8. After testing positive Seifert was awaiting his transfer to Chennai, where he was to be treated in the same private hospital in which former Australia player Michael Hussey.
