Tigress dies at Tyavarekoppa safari near Shivamogga

Anjani, a 17-year-old tigress, dies at Tiger and Lion Safari due to age-related organ failure.
A tigress, named Anjani, died at the Tiger and Lion Safari, Tyavarekoppa in Shivamogga on Wednesday night. The 17-year-old was suffering from age-related multiple organ failure.
The animal was received from the Chamundi Wild Animals Rescue, Rehabilitation, and Conservation Breeding Centre at Koorgalli in Mysuru in 2022. It was kept at the holding house, a separate enclave for temporary stay, and during the daytime, it was kept in the kraal area, not exhibited to the visitors. The animal had been suffering for the past three months.
A team of veterinarians from the Government Veterinary College in Sivamogga and the veterinarian of the safari conducted the post-mortem and disposed of the carcass, said a press release issued by the executive director of the Safari.
At present, one tiger and four tigresses are at the Safari, located on Shivamogga-Sagar Road.
