An official statement said that tourists would not be allowed to visit Manimuthar and tourist spots beyond the waterfalls on these days in view of the tiger census to be conducted in the Kalakkad-Mundanthurai Tiger Reserve. The Manimuthar checkpost at the entrance of the Manimuthar dam will also remain closed during this period.
After the completion of the tiger census, the checkpost will be opened on March 3 to allow tourists to visit Manimuthar falls and other areas like Maanjolai as part of eco-tourism activities, the statement said.
Similarly, tourists will not be allowed to visit Agasthiyar falls and Sorimuthu Ayyanar Temple from February 24 to March 1; the Papanasam checkpost will be closed during this period.
