TPCC working president offers ₹10 lakh to cancer-stricken widow in Sadashivapet, urges support for impoverished cancer patients.
In a heartfelt gesture, Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) working president T. Jayaprakash Reddy extended a helping hand to a cancer-stricken widow in Sadashivapet, offering ₹ 10 lakh in financial assistance to support her ongoing treatment and her two daughters.
The woman, identified as Amani, shared her plight with Mr. Reddy during his visit to her residence, which moved the Congress leader, who immediately arranged for ₹10 lakh assistance. The 45-year-old widow revealed that she had already taken a loan of ₹ 7 lakh to cover treatment expenses and was struggling to make ends meet following the death of her husband. The mother of two daughters expressed deep emotional distress and said she had contemplated suicide but continued to fight for the sake of her children.
The three-time MLA praised Chief Minister Revanth Reddy’s recent directive to screen Amani for cancer, calling it “a commendable step.” Mr. Reddy also said he would bring the hardships faced by cancer patients from impoverished backgrounds to the attention of the Chief Minister.
“The poor face unimaginable hardships when struck by diseases like cancer. Many cannot afford treatment, pushing families into ruin,” he stated, calling for help from donors and NGOs who work in the medical sphere. “The idea of bringing this to the notice of the media is to inspire others to donate to such victims,” he said.
