
Three Punjab women protest atop mobile tower for regular jobs

Having failed to get a regular job in the last 18 years, three women teachers climbed a mobile phone tower in Mohali’s Kharar on Wednesday to protest against the Punjab government.The protesters, identified as Kapurthala’s Nishant, Gurdaspur’s Gurvinder and Hoshiarpur’s Ranjana, shouted slogans against the Punjab government and demanded a regular job."We have climbed the mobile tower and are appealing to you also to join us. We are risking our lives,” they can be heard saying in a video.The protesters said that Punjab chief minister Charanjit Singh Channi claims he is a messiah of the poor but has in fact compelled the protesters to risk their lives.
"It is very shameful as Punjab’s daughters are on mobile towers. Charanjit Channi’s government has failed to provide us regular employment. We should be given equal wages for equal work,” they said.Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal met the three women on Saturday and said he would provide them a regular job as soon as his party, AAP, forms government in Punjab.
