Three killed in tragic road accident involving ambulance and lorry; three others hospitalized. Kenikarai police investigating.
In a tragic incident, three persons were killed on the spot in a road accident when the ambulance in which they were travelling with an ailing patient hit against a lorry on Wednesday night. Three other relatives were admitted to private hospitals in Ramanathapuram and Madurai.
Kenikarai police said that Varusai Kani (65) of Mandapam Maraikayar Pattinam was ill. The family members and relatives decided to take him to the government hospital in Ramanathapuram. At around 11.45 p.m. on Wednesday, when they were crossing Valantharavai petrol bunk, a lorry loaded with wood was proceeding to Ramanathapuram.
It is said that the ambulance hit the rear side of the lorry and in the impact Varusai Kani, Sahubar Sadiq (47) and Anees Fatima (40) died on the spot. Three of the relatives identified as Arshad (45), Kajeetha Rani (40) and Ayeesha Begum (35) were admitted to private hospitals in Ramanathapuram and Madurai.
The Kenikarai police are investigating.

When reporters brought to her notice the claim by villagers that the late maharaja of Mysore Sri Jayachamaraja Wadiyar had gifted the land to them, Pramoda Devi Wadiyar said she is not aware of the matter, but sought to assure people that no effort will be made to take back the land that had been gifted by the late maharaja.
