Three arrested for sale of ganja in Andhra Pradesh’s Nandyal

Nandyal police arrest three for illegal ganja sale, seize 5 kg; urge public to report drug activities to Eagle.
Nandyal police in Andhra Pradesh have arrested three persons for illegal transportation and sale of ganja in Nandyal town and seized 5 kg ganja from them.
Accused have been identified as Jinkala Maddileti of Boyalakuntla village in Sirivella mandal, Bontha Srinivasulu of Mahadevapuram in Sirivella mandal and Shaik Yusuf of Ayyalurimetta in Nandyal mandal. According to police, the main accused Maddileti came into contact with Vasu of Samalkot, who was a friend of his father Maddileti Shivudu.
“With the help of Shivudu, Maddileti used to procure ganja and get it transported to Nandyal in a train. With the help of Srinivasulu, Maddileti used to pack the ganja into small packets and sell them. They used to sell the ganja to Yusuf, who runs a tea stall near Sai Baba temple in Nandyal and Yusuf used to sell the same to customers,’‘ the police said.
Based on information, the Nandyal Taluk police arrested the trio on Saturday (January 4, 2025) night and seized 5 kg ganja. On the occasion, the police asked the people to share information regarding transportation and sale of ganja to the Elite Anti-Narcotics Group for Law Enforcement (Eagle) on the number 1972.
