
Thousands of Hydro One customers without power in Sudbury, Manitoulin districts

About 16,500 customers are without power as outages with Hydro One are effecting areas of Greater Sudbury and most of Manitoulin Island on Sunday afternoon.

Communities affected include Walden, Whitefish, Fairbanks, Narin Centre, McKerrow, Espanola, Webbwod, Massy, Spanish and Cutler along with most of Manitoulin Island.
As of 2:30 p.m., the power provider reports of about 16,500 customers without power following storms that have brought high winds and lightning strikes to the region.
“Our crews are working safely and as quickly as possible to restore power as severe thunderstorms pass through,” Hydro One said on social media.
Power was restored to most customers in Chelmsford, Dowling Onaping Falls, Windy Lake and Cartier by 2:30 p.m.
A single outage has knocked the majority of customers off the grid however a total of 3 outages are showing across the region on Sunday afternoon at 2:30 p.m., down from more than 10 earlier in the day.
