Mumbai Indians recruited the young South Africa keeper-batter Tristan Stubbs after English fast bowler Tymal Mills had to cut his tournament short to due an ankle injury. Stubbs has joined the MI camp.
Highly rated South Africa A keeper-batsman Tristan Stubbs has joined the Mumbai Indians camp in the Indian Premier League for their last few matches. Stubbs, who had a strong domestic season at the CSA Challenge, was called up by the Mumbai based franchise after they lost the services of Tymal Mills.
The English fast bowler was forced to cut short his time in the IPL after injuring his ankle. This left MI in a big hole in terms of their death bowling prospect, but at the moment, they have not felt his absence with Australian Riley Meredith stepping up to the plate.
Mumbai chose to replace the fast bowler with the 21-year-old keeper batter.Stubbs, who has joined the MI camp revealed that he was at the golf course when he received the call about MI.
“Yesterday morning we were at the golf course actually, when my dad phoned me and I was like, ‘Wow, this is crazy! It’s actually happening.’”

Stubbs joined the MI camp on the day the bottom placed franchise won a stupendous game against Gujarat Titans. Tim David lit up the show in the back end of the first half of the game, hitting 44 runs off just 21 balls. Later in the day fellow countryman Daniel Sams defended 8 runs in the final over to take MI home to their second win in the Indian Premier League.
