Third-year college student in Hyderabad kills self due to harassment by TRS corporator

A third-year B.Tech student in Telangana’s Hyderabad killed himself in the early hours of Thursday, June 2, after he was harassed by a TRS corporator. Police have registered a case under Section 306 of the IPC against all the accused, including the TRS party cadre.
A B.Tech student in Telangana’s Hyderabad allegedly killed himself by hanging from the ceiling in his house on Thursday, June 2. The family of the deceased has alleged that he killed himself over harassment by a Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) corporator.
TRS corporator Shiv Kumar from Mamidpally, along with others, attacked Sharath, a third-year B.Tech student, two days ago, over a civil dispute.
After that, he committed suicide by hanging himself from the ceiling of his house in the early hours of Thursday.
“The deceased’s father was raising his voice against the illegal activity and grabbing by the TRS corporator. Angry over this, he attacked his son,” alleged the victim’s family members.
They also alleged that the state education minister, Savita Indira Reddy, was protecting the corporator, and despite their previous complaint with the police, no action was initiated against the accused.
“On May 29, two student groups fought over a petty issue. One of the men who attacked the decreased is a relative of the TRS corporator,” said C Venkateswarulu, inspector of Pahadi Shareef police station.
A case has been registered under Section 306 of the Indian Penal Code against the accused, including TRS corporator Shiv Kumar.
