The third Gulf Games, which was scheduled to be held in Kuwait from January 9 to 19, has been postponed over fears of Omicron spread. This came during the 92nd meeting of the Executive Office of the Council of Presidents of the Olympic Committees in GCC, which was held in Manama on Sunday under the chairmanship of HH Prince Fahd bin Jalawi bin Abdulaziz bin Musaed, Vice President of the Saudi Arabian Olympic Committee, Secretary-General of the Committee, and the presence of members of the office. The third Gulf Games will now be hosted by Kuwait from May 11 to 21. Qatar Olympic Committee (QOC) Secretary-General HE Jassim bin Rashid Al Buenain attended the meeting. The meeting discussed several other important matters such as the third GCC Beach Games, fourth GCC Games, seventh GCC Womenâs Games and the first GCC Youth Games. They also reviewed the formation of GCC Sports Dispute Resolution Panel and the activities of GCC Sports Organizing Committees in addition to other topics on the meeting agenda. The meeting was also attended by Director of the QOC Sports Affairs Department Khaleel Al Jabir, President of Qatar Women Sports Committee Mrs Lulwa Al Marri, and the Director of QOC Public Relations and International Cooperation Department Hamad Al Obaidly.
