Mohamed Salah put two past Manchester United as Liverpool thrashed their archrivals 4-0 in a crucial Premier League clash for both teams.
Liverpool thrashed Manchester United late on Tuesday evening, putting four goals past their archrival in the Premier League. The win kept Liverpool’s push for the title alive as the Merseyside club went to the top position in the league table with 76 points from 32 matches. They are closely followed by Manchester City who have 74 points from 31 games played.
Liverpool’s star winger Mohamed Salah, who scored two goals past Manchester United’s David de Gea when asked about his reading of the game said that it was the away side’s style of play that made life easy for the Liverpool players.
“They make our life easier in the midfield and in the back, they always try to give us the ball in a one against one situation so it makes our life much easier,” said the 29-year-old.Stating that they had clean sheets in both games, Salah stressed that United made their life easy on the night where the Red Devils had just two shots at goal against the home side’s 14.
“When we defend we had a clean sheet here and a clean sheet there, so they make our life easier,”He added that United’s lack of ability to hold on the ball for long periods under pressure allowed Liverpool to attack more and once they had the first goal, they could think about having more and more.
“We just want to score one goal and once we get the first, go for the second, once we get the second go for the third. It was a top performance from us here and away also. Hopefully carry on like this,” Salah concluded his analysis.
Barring the goalscorers in Salah, Sadio Mane and Luis Diaz, Spanish Thiago Alcantara had an exceptional game manning the midfield for Liverpool and controlling the tempo of the game. For him, this was one of the strongest performances of this team at Anfield as they were oozing quality throughout the 90 minutes.
“I think this was one of the strongest performances the team did in Anfield. The first one was unbelievable also the second one. We were high level through the 90 minutes.”
