With warm temperatures radiating off the cement sooner than expected, the City of Toronto is offering some relief from the heat a little early.
While the full summer schedule for city pools starts June 28, the city has announced it's opening 10 outdoor pools and 10 wading pools on Saturday.
Wading-pool hours will vary by location, so the city recommends checking their online schedule before heading out.
All other wading pools will open on June 28.
These outdoor pools will be open on evenings and weekends until the full summer schedule begins, the city said. All other outdoor city pools will open under the same partial schedule on June 22.
Full summer hours for all pools start June 28.
"As we feel the heat sooner and longer than before, opening outdoor pool operations will help many stay cool and healthy," said Deputy Mayor Jennifer McKelvie in a news release Friday.
The city has a leisure swim program that's free for all ages at its outdoor pools, no reservation required. Outdoor lane swimming is also free and open to swimmers aged seven and up.
Splash pads are already open and operate daily from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.
For natural bodies of water, the city said its 10 beaches now have lifeguards on duty every day from 10:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.
