Vivek Agnihotri's directorial, The Kashmir Files, has wreaked havoc at the box office. The film is now inching closer to Rs 150-crore mark.
Vivek Agnihotri's directorial, The Kashmir Files, has continued its onslaught at the box office. The film has broken all records ever since its release on March 11. After crossing Rs 100 crore in just seven days, The Kashmir Files is expected to cross the Rs 150-crore mark now. On Day 9, it reportedly minted Rs 24.50 crore, taking the total box office collection to Rs 140.95 crore. The Kashmir Files, which released on March 11, is based on the exodus of Kashmiri Hindus during the Kashmir insurgency in 1990. The film stars Anupam Kher, Darshan Kumar, Mithun Chakraborty and Pallavi Joshi.
The Kashmir Files has zoomed past the Rs 100 crore nett at the box office. Now, it is racing towards the Rs 150-crore mark and should touch that mark before the end of the second weekend. On Day 9, the early estimates suggests that the film earned Rs 24.50 crore. Hence, the total box office collection now stands at Rs 140.95 crore. Meanwhile, the film had an overall 70.72% Hindi Occupancy on Saturday, March 19, 2022. The Kashmir Files has a shot of touching Rs 300 crore by the end of its run.
The Kashmir Files tells the true story of brutal sufferings endured by Kashmiri Pandits in 1990, during the Kashmir insurgency. It is a true story, based on video interviews of the first generation victims of The Kashmir Genocide of Kashmiri Pandit Community. It’s a heart-wrenching narrative of the pain, suffering, struggle and trauma of Kashmiri pandits and questions eye-opening facts about democracy, religion, politics and humanity.
The Kashmir Files' cast features Anupam Kher as Pushkarnath, Mithun Chakraborty as Brahma Dutt, Darshan Kumar as Krishna Pandit, Pallavi Joshi as Radhika Menon, Bhasha Sumbali as Shraddha Pandit and Chinmay Mandlekar as Farooq Malik aka Bitta, among others. The film is bankrolled by Tej Narayan Agarwal, Abhishek Agarwal, Pallavi Joshi and Vivek Agnihotri under the Zee Studios, IAmBuddha and Abhishek Agarwal Arts banners.
