Gulshan Kumar was shot dead by assassins on August 12, 1997. Abdul Rauf AKA Daud Merchant was given life term in the case in 2001, which he challenged. The Bombay High Court on July 1, 2021, upheld the earlier decision in the case.
The Bombay High Court on Thursday (July 1) dismissed an appeal filed by Abdul Rauf challenging his conviction and life term for the murder of T-Series founder Gulshan Kumar, in August 1997. In April 2002, Sessions Judge ML Tahilyani (as he then was) sentenced Abdul Rauf alias Daud Merchant to life imprisonment. Rauf had appealed against this decision. He was one of the assassins in the murder case. The court further dismissed an appeal by the Maharashtra state government against the acquittal of accused Ramesh Taurani. Gulshan Kumar, the owner of T-Series, was shot dead while coming out of a temple in Mumbai on August 12, 1997. The killers, including Rauf, had been keeping a tab on Kumar’s movement for over two months before they fired bullets at him. This was allegedly done at the instance of the Dawood Ibrahim gang.More Related News
