Newly released body camera footage shows 13-year-old Adam Toledo in the final moments of his life, running from police down a Chicago alleyway at 2:38 a.m.
An officer, sprinting after him, can be heard on his body camera video yelling, "Stop, right f***ing now." As Toledo stops and turns to the officer with his hands raised, the officer opens fire. Police said a gun was found a few feet away from the teen. An attorney for Toledo's family said he wasn't holding a gun when he was shot, but an attorney for the officer says Toledo was armed. Toledo's shooting — which occurred after a police foot chase, a practice the Department of Justice says can be dangerous and lead to compromised judgment — places new scrutiny on the department's history of using force after chasing suspects.
Santa Fe, New Mexico — A representative for the estate of actor Gene Hackman is seeking to block the public release of autopsy and investigative reports, especially photographs and police body-camera video related to the recent deaths of Hackman and wife Betsy Arakawa after their partially mummified bodies were discovered at their New Mexico home in February.

To identify and stop the next potential pandemic, government disease detectives have been discreetly searching for viral pathogens in wastewater from airplanes. Experts are worried that these efforts may not be enough.
