U.S. futures are pointing to a positive open after a mostly negative session on Monday. However, after having been down more than 2.7 per cent earlier, the tech-heavy NASDAQ staged a rally and closed the trading session up with very modest gains. While, the other major North American indices all closed in the red, they did end off their worst levels of the day. Today, investors will be listening closely to Jerome Powell’s testimony before the Senate Banking Committee – a hearing regarding his reappointment as Chairman of the U.S. Federal Reserve – where he is expected to be grilled on inflation and interest rates.
ROGERS MAKES IT OFFICIAL
Tony Staffieri is keeping the top job at Rogers Communications after holding it on a temporary basis since mid-November. Staffieri, the company’s former Chief Financial Officer, replaces Joe Natale, who was pushed out of the Canadian wireless and cable company following a power struggle that pitted members of one of Canada’s wealthiest families against each other and was ultimately resolved in a B.C. courtroom. In a press release issued by the company, Chairman Edward Rogers said “the appointment of Tony as President and CEO puts Rogers in a strong position as we prepare for the closing and integration of the Shaw transaction in the first half of 2022.”
