The Ashes: Joe Root continuing as England captain would be 'absolutely' supported by the team - Chris Woakes

The Ashes: Chris Woakes said that Joe Root's batting form has not been hurt by captaincy and said that the rest of the team is hoping to improve and provide their skipper some steady partnerships.
Fast bowling all-rounder Chris Woakes has backed Joe Root to continue as England captain despite the team's failure in the Ashes. England fell to an innings defeat in the third Test in Melbourne, thus handing Australia an unassailable 3-0 lead in the series. It is Root's third failure as captain to win the Ashes, having lost the 2017/18 series in Australia and drawn the 2019 series in England.
Asked if the England team would support Root's continuation as skipper, Woakes told British media on Wednesday, "Absolutely. It's clear that the captaincy isn't having an effect on his batting, which a lot of the time with captains can be the case."
