According to a report by the United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan, the conflict has left around 111,000 civilians killed or injured since 2009 in the country.
The Taliban have seized Afghanistan two decades after the US and its allies ousted the insurgents in a conflict that cost America more than two trillion dollars, according to a Brown University study. "Since invading Afghanistan in 2001, the United States has spent $2.26 trillion on the war, which includes operations in both Afghanistan and Pakistan," the study said. "Note that this total does not include funds that the United States government is obligated to spend on lifetime care for American veterans of this war, nor does it include future interest payments on money borrowed to fund the war."More Related News
