Former India captain Virat Kohli is also the most followed cricketer in the world. He has been given a rest for the home five-match T20I series against South Africa.
Former India captain Virat Kohli on Tuesday became the first Indian to reach 200 million followers on Instagram.
"200 million strong. Thanks for all your support insta fam," Kohli said in an Instagram post.
The 33-year-old is also the most followed cricketer in the world and the third most followed sportsperson in the world after Cristiano Ronaldo (450M) and Lionel Messi (333M)
Kohli stepped down as T20I captain after the ICC T20 World Cup in the UAE last year. India had an embarrassing outing at the showpiece event, crashing out in the group stage.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) then removed Kohli as the ODI captain and handed the reign to Rohit Sharma. After India's three-test match series defeat in South Africa, Kohli also relinquished the Test captaincy. The BCCI appointed Rohit as the new Test captain.
