Thalapathy Vijay's father and director SA Chandrasekar is not impressed with Nelson Dilipkumar's Beast. He said that the film relied on his son's star power instead of the screenplay.
Thalapathy Vijay's father SA Chandrasekar, in a recent television interview, slammed Beast director Nelson Dilipkumar. He said that the film relied on Vijay's star power and that the screenplay wasn't upto the mark. SA Chandrasekar also added that Beast will definitely make numbers at the box office, but the magic in the screenplay was missing.
Beast, directed by Nelson Dilipkumar, released in theatres on April 13. Though the film did wonders at the box office in terms of collections, it has been receiving mixed reviews from critics and audience alike.
SA Chandrasekar spoke to a Tamil television channel in which he expressed his disappointment after watching his son's recently released film, Beast. He pointed out that Beast was solely riding on Vijay's star power.
He said, "I enjoyed Arabic Kuthu like a die-hard fan would. But, Beast relied solely on Vijay's stardom. The film was a serious subject about international terrorist organisations. There should be magic in the screenplay. Where is it?The director has to study how the military functions. He should know how a RAW agent behaves. That was missing."
SA Chandrasekar also added, "There's no doubt that Beast will become a hit. However, the film worked because of a music director, a fight master, a dance master, an editor and a hero." He refrained from mentioning director Nelson's name.
Despite fetching mixed reviews, Beast grossed Rs 200 crore at the box office worldwide. Directed by Nelson Dilipkumar, the film is produced by Sun Pictures. The hostage thriller features Pooja Hegde, Selvaraghavan and Shine Tom Chacko in important roles.
