TGSRTC braces for passenger rush on Sankranti

TGSRTC gears up for Sankranti with 6,432 special buses, temporary fare hike, and passenger amenities at key locations.
Ahead of Sankranti, the Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TGSRTC) has geared up to deal with the massive influx of bus passengers.
In anticipation of lakhs of passengers, the corporation had already announced that it would press into service as many as 6,432 special buses to cater to the rush with people from Hyderabad going to their hometowns within Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.
Passenger movement gathered pace on Thursday, and according to the TGSRTC, it is expected to intensify. The key dates when passenger activity is expected to peak are January 10, 11, and 12. If the need arises, the TGSRTC will deploy more buses.
Arrangements have also been made for the return of travellers. Passenger movement at bus stations is expected to increase again on January 19 and 20.
Like every year, the key departure points are Mahatma Gandhi Bus Station, Jubilee Bus Station, Uppal Crossroads, Aramghar, LB Nagar Crossroads, KPHB, Bowenpally, and Gachibowli. Pandals, shamianas, chairs, drinking water facilities, and mobile toilets have been arranged.
With the new Cherlapally railway terminal, the Chengicherla depot will run buses from Secunderabad - Blue Sea Restaurant from Platform 1 to the terminal from 4.30 a.m. to 10.30 p.m. The frequency of buses will be 10 minutes. Buses from Cherlapally terminal to Borabanda via Chengicherla, Uppal and Ramanthapur from Platform 9, will run every 40 minutes.
