Ten railcars derail in remote area of northeastern Ontario

CN crews are responding to a train derailment in a remote part of northeastern Ontario on Monday.
Shortly after 9 p.m. on Monday, CN officials confirmed that one of the derailed railcars was leaking diesel oil.
However, the precautionary evacuation has since been lifted.

CN spokesperson Ashley Michnowski said in an email Monday evening that about 10 cars derailed at around 2:45 p.m. in Jogues, southwest of Hearst, Ont.
“There are no reports of injuries or fires at this time,” Michnowski said.
“One of the railcars is confirmed to be leaking. As a precaution, a local evacuation has been put in place by local emergency services.”
