India vs South Africa: An elated Temba Bavuma lauded Heinrich Klaasen for his match-winning 81-run knock after South Africa defeated India by 4 wickets to take a 2-0 series lead in Cuttack.
South Africa captain Temba Bavuma heaped rich praise on Heinrich Klaasen for his special knock that powered South Africa to a sensational 4-wicket win over India in the 2nd T20I at Barabati Stadium despite some superb bowling from Bhuvneshwar Kumar.
Bavuma said that Klaasen adds a lot of value to South Africa's batting as he has the ability to do the damage in a couple of balls. Klaasen capitalized on his chance selection to smash 81 off 46 balls as South Africa beat India by four wickets.
"There’s learning I can take from this game, will try better in the next game. We knew it wasn’t going to be an easy chase, but we were confident. We knew we had to execute our plans, and we had to be clinical. We can use him (Miller) at 5 or 6. Klaasen is someone who can do the damage in a couple of balls. He (Klaasen) adds a lot of value to our batting. Whatever your role is, you need to execute as well as you can," Bavuma said in the post-match presentation ceremony.
Bhuvneshwar Kumar claimed three wickets in the powerplay to reduce South Africa to 29-3 in reply to India's modest total of 148-6 after being put into bat. Kumar finished with impressive figures of 4-13 but it was not enough to avert their second successive defeat in the five-match series. After the match, Bavuma lauded Bhuvneshwar, saying that the India pacer bowled well and made the ball talk upfront.
"It was a tricky chase, Bhuvi bowled well, he made the ball talk upfront. It could have been clinical towards the end, but we will take that. We really needed someone to take it deep. That’s the role I play in the game, to close it off."
