Razia Begum rode for 1400 km on her 2-wheeler during the national lockdown in 2020 to rescue her son. Now she awaits his return, this time from Ukraine.
Razia Begum’s 21-year-old son, Mohammed Nizamuddin Aman, is currently stuck in war-torn Ukraine. He is a first-year MBBS student at Sumy State University and, along with hundreds of other Indian students, he is yet to be evacuated. Aman, along with around 800 others, had taken shelter in a basement amid the heavy bombardment.
52-year-old government teacher Razia from Nizamabad district in Telangana is now praying for the safe return of her son.
She has kept in touch with Aman through video calls and has appealed to the state and central government to consider the rescue of students from Sumy a priority.
Two years ago, during the initial stage of the nationwide lockdown, this teacher from Telangana's Nizamabad had travelled a huge distance on her two-wheeler to Nellore in Andhra Pradesh after her teen son got stranded there.
