Telangana: Police unearth Maoist ammunition dump in Mulugu district
India Today
A joint team of police and CRPF personnel recovered an ammunition dump of Maoists in Mulugu district.
The Telangana Police has unearthed an explosives dump of Maoists in the reserve forest area of Medaram village in Mulugu district’s Tadvai mandal.
Acting on reliable information, the joint team of police and CRPF personnel accompanied by a bomb disposal squad scoured the forest area and unearthed explosive materials concealed in a drum deep inside the woods in Tadvai forest range.
The joint team recovered 74 gelatin sticks, four detonators, one wire bundle, and three plastic sheets from that drum.
Following the recovery of ammunition, a case has been registered.
Notably, there have been a number of incidents in which civilians and cattle have died due to the explosion of landmines set up by the Maoist. In March 2019, Soyam Pentayya, a resident of Mukunur Palm, was killed in a landmine blast planted by the Maoists.
The police cautioned that people roaming in the area should be vigilant and be careful not to fall prey to landmines set up by the Maoists.
