An infant died in Hyderabad after traffic police allegedly stopped a car that was on the way to the hospital for over an hour due to pending challans. The police have denied the allegations and Commissioner Mahesh Bhagwat said that the vehicle was stopped for only 7-10 minutes.
The parents of the deceased three-month-old alleged that the toddler died after traffic police stopped their vehicle for about an hour when they found that the driver was not wearing a seat belt.
The family hailed from Marigadi village in Telangana’s Jangaon district. They had hired a car to take their ill three-month-old infant to a hospital in Hyderabad.
The incident took place on Monday, May 31, at Vangapally X Road, where the Yadagirigutta Traffic Police team stopped the car and, after an inquiry, it was discovered that the car had pending challans.
The Inspector said that they found pending challans on the car as part of a routine check. He also claimed that neither the car driver nor the passengers informed them about the sick child and that they were heading to the hospital.
Meanwhile, Mahesh Bhagwat, Commissioner of Police, Rachakonda issued a statement after a detailed enquiry was initiated.
The baby, named Revanth, was suffering from Congenital Ichthyosis (Lamella) disease.
