Telangana Police are hunting Tarun, who is absconding, for forcing his pregnant wife to drink toilet cleaning liquid. She died on Wednesday. Her family alleged that Tarun had harassed them for dowry money and had killed her by forcing her to drink the toilet cleaner.
A pregnant woman in Telangana’s Nizamabad district died on Wednesday, April 27, after her husband forced her to drink toilet cleaning acid. The incident happened at Rajpet Thanda in Varni mandal of Nizamabad. The accused is on the run and police have formed teams to nab him.
The husband, Tarun, married the deceased, Kalyani, about four years ago, said the police.
According to a Times of India report, three months ago, when Kalyani became pregnant, Tarun began to harass her, saying she wasn’t good looking. Varni police said that he also began to pester her to get more dowry money from her family.
After an argument broke out between them on Tuesday, Tarun reportedly forced Kalyani to drink toilet cleaning liquid. She fell extremely ill and her family took her to the government hospital in Nizamabad for treatment.
However, she died on Wednesday while undergoing treatment. Kalyani’s relatives lodged a complaint against Tarun and his family, alleging that they had harassed her for additional dowry and killed her by forcing her to consume toilet cleaning liquid.
Based on the complaint, police registered a case against Tarun and two of his family members under Sections 302, 304-B, and 498-A of the Indian Penal Code.
The accused are currently on the run and police have launched a manhunt to nab them.
