Telangana contributes 5.1% to national GDP, yet it was deceived: BRS Harish Rao on Union Budget 2025

BRS criticizes BJP for neglecting Telangana in Union Budget 2025-26, demands apology from Telangana BJP ministers and Congress MPs.

The Bharat Rashtra Samiti (BRS) has termed the Union Budget 2025-26 asdisappointing which gave a ‘big zero’ to Telangana and said the BJP’s neglect of South Indian states, despite their significant contribution to the national exchequer, is against the spirit of federalism.

BRS Working President K.T. Rama Rao (KTR) in a statement accused both the BJP and Congress of failing the State and demanded an apology from Telangana’s BJP ministers, Congress MPs, and Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy for their inability to secure funds for the State.

He said despite Telangana sending 16 MPs, eight each from BJP and Congress to Parliament, the State has received “absolutely nothing” from the budget. He alleged that CM Revanth Reddy, instead of protecting Telangana’s interests, has been making secret deals with the BJP, leading to the State’s neglect in central allocations.

KTR claimed that the people of Telangana have realized the importance of regional parties in securing State rights, citing Bihar and Andhra Pradesh as examples where regional parties have gained prominence in budget. He also criticised the central government for prioritizing BJP-ruled states in budget allocations while sidelining Telangana.

BRS MLA and former Minister T Harish Rao said Telangana has been once again deceived despite its contribution of 5.1% to the national GDP. He termed the 2025 Union Budget as the ‘Bihar budget’ and in 2026 it would be the ‘Uttar Pradesh Budget’ and the 2027 as the ‘Gujarat Budget’. When will the BJP think of a national budget, he asked.

There is no mention of Telangana and the two Union Ministers [from Telangana] G. Kishan Reddy and Bandi Sanjay Kumar should explain the injustice meted out to the State. BJP had yet again proved that it has no bond with Telangana, he said.

Former MP B Vinod Kumar questioned the neglect of the demand for sanctioning the Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER) and such national institutions to Telangana.
