BJP activists in Telangana criticised the state government over VAT on fuel and poured liquor on CM KCR's poster.
Hailing Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led Centre's decision to reduce excise duty on fuel, the Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders in Telangana's Achampet poured milk on PM's poster on Sunday.
The saffron party demanded that Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao should also announce a reduction in VAT imposed by the state on petrol and diesel. The activists poured liquor on CM's poster.
Telangana has the second-highest VAT on petrol in the country.BJP state president Bandi Sanjay Kumar also thanked PM Modi and Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitaraman for taking a courageous decision to reduce the price of petrol, diesel and LPG cylinders.

“Though it would cause a burden of nearly Rs 1 lakh crore on the central exchequer, it is commendable that the Centre has decided to extend relief to the poor people,” he said.
Criticising the ruling Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS), he alleged it was "looting the people by collecting more than Rs 30 per litre on petrol in the name of value-added tax."
He claimed that in the past eight years, the state government had earned a revenue of Rs 65,000 crore on petrol and diesel in the name of VAT.
