Ganesh, a BJP activist in Telangana’s Khammam district, killed himself by consuming pesticide. His family has alleged that the local police had filed false cases against him at the behest of the local MLA and state transport minister, Ajay Kumar.
A Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) activist, Samineni Sai Ganesh Chowdary, killed himself after 16 cases were allegedly filed against him for ‘no fault of his’, claim the party and family.
Ganesh, who was president of the BJP Kisan Mazdoor Union, consumed pesticide in front of three police stations in Telangana’s Khammam district, on Thursday, April 14. He died at a hospital in Hyderabad while undergoing treatment on Saturday, April 16.
The BJP has alleged that three police stations were threatening and harassing Ganesh at the behest of local MLA and state transport minister, P Ajay Kumar. The BJP claimed that he had a role in the ‘false’ cases filed against the deceased.
As a result, the BJP has launched a protest in Khammam district. They burnt posters and banners of the minister in the city.
Fearing protests, Telangana IT minister and Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) working president, KT Rama Rao, had to cancel his Khammam tour.
Ganesh, a 30-year-old resident of Sarathinagar in Khammam, was about to get married on May 4.
Recating on the death, BJP state unit president and MP Bandi Sanjay Kumar posted a tweet saying, “Paid homage & observed 2-minute silence to mourn death of Sai Ganesh, @BJP4Telangana activist who committed suicide after being harassed by Minister Puvvada Ajay, TRS goons & police in Khammam district. We demand an attempt to murder case be filed against those responsible for the death.”
