A computer engineer who conspired to attack children at the American School in Mumbai has been sentenced to life in jail by a local court. Anees Ansari, arrested in October 2014 by the Maharashtra Anti-Terrorism Squad, has been in jail since.
He was working as an associate technician at a private company, whose computer he used to set up a Facebook account in a false name and posted the threat among other posts. The ATS also said he was supporting activities of the terror group ISIS. His Facebook chats with one Omar Elhaji showed he wanted to carry out a 'lone wolf' attack on the American School, said the prosecution.
He was on Friday convicted under sections of the Indian Penal Code and the Information Technology Act, by Additional Sessions Judge AA Joglekar.
