Team Qatar swimmers win 30 gold medals at 28th GCC Aquatics Championships

Doha: Hosts Qatar emerged overall champions at the conclusion of the swimming competitions on the second day of the 28th GCC Aquatics Championship at the Hamad Aquatic Centre in Doha,  yesterday.

Qatari swimmers bagged an outstanding medal haul of 30 gold, 15 silver and seven bronze medals to emerge on top for the fifth occasion in a row. Saudi Arabia, with a total of 29 medals (8 gold, 12 silver and  9 bronze), were placed second while Kuwait came third with 35 medals (3 gold, 15 silver, 17 bronze). Bahrain (3 gold, 3 silver, 9 bronze), UAE (3 gold, 1 silver, 3 bronze) and Oman (1 gold, 2 silver, 3 bronze) are in the fourth, fifth and sixth spots respectively.
