
Teacher recruitment scam: CBI custody of former SSC chairman, ex-adviser extended till August 22

A Kolkata court extended the CBI custody of Bengal SSC chairman Ashok Saha and former Bengal SSC adviser Sahinti Prasad Sinha till August 22.
A Kolkata court on Wednesday sent West Bengal School Service Commission (SSC) former chairman Ashok Saha and former adviser Shanti Prasad Sinha to five-day CBI custody in connection with a teacher recruitment scam.
Last week, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) arrested Shanti Prasad Sinhs and Ashok Saha, in connection with the case. Initially, they were granted seven-day CBI custody.
The two accused were presented in court today and the CBI sought extension of custody of the two accused.
The CBI told the court that they had seized a few important documents related to TET (teacher eligibility test) from the residence of SP Sinha. The agency also said that they recovered few documents, including names and roll numbers of lots of job candidates and a few government documents with the signatures of district inspectors from his residence.

The CBI told the court that it needed to question SP Sinha and Ashok Saha again to find out the recruitment scam details.
Meanwhile, the advocates representing SP Sinha and Ashok Saha sought bail for them today.
