A teacher working on a First Nation in northwestern Ontario has been charged with sexually assaulting a minor.
A teacher working on a First Nation in northwestern Ontario has been charged with sexually assaulting a minor.
The Nishnawbe Aski Police Service said the alleged attack took place sometime in September in Webequie First Nation.
"Police learned the accused was a teacher in the community and had allegedly assaulted a male youth who was 15 years old at the time of the incident," police said in a news release Monday.
"Members of the NAPS Northwest crime unit became involved in the continued investigation."
The 26-year-old suspect, who is from Holland Landing in southern Ontario, was arrested Sunday morning.
He is charged with sexual assault of a person under age 16, invitation to sexual touching involving someone under age 16 and sexual interference.
The accused appeared for a bail hearing on Monday and was remanded into custody with a future appearance date.
