Telugu Desam Party (TDP) politiburo member Varla Ramaiah on Wednesday wrote a letter to the Deputy Inspector-General of Police (DIG), Guntur Range, urging him to take steps to review the case relating to the alleged murder of Nutakki Ravi Kiran in Mulpur village in Baptla district.
Mr. Ramaiah said in the letter that Ravi Kiran, belonging to SC community, was brutally murdered on March 22 and it was widely believed that the body was packed in a gunny bag and thrown in to Buckingham Canal.
The accused, Samudrala Pavan Kamar aka Laddu; Nannapaneni Krishna Chaitanya; Attota Deepthi; Makkena Vamsi; and Pilli Ravikumar have been arrested. Another accused Tumati Prasanth is at large. Also, the accused Mr. Samudrala Pavan Kumar aka Laddu has been, on previous occasions, accused in five other murder cases, due to which people are in constant fear, he said.
The body of the deceased has not yet been traced and the poor family members are worried to have a look at the deceased. Further investigation in this case, if it is in the absence of the ‘corpse delicti’, the DNA test on the bloodstains of the deceased found at the scene of the offence have to be examined with that of his mother, Mr. Ramaiah said.
The victim’s family was not only socially vulnerable but also belonged to an economically poor family, he clamed. Mr. Ramaiah appealed to the official to review the case so as to ensure that justice was rendered to the victim’s family at the earliest and the body of the deceased was traced without any further delay.
“Considering the influence and support from the ruling YSRCP to the accused, it is widely believed that the ruling party leaders are pressuring the police to release the accused,” he said, adding, “Further, the family is worried that justice may be denied to them due to the influence of the YSRCP leaders.”
