Tamil Nadu poll: AIADMK minister to contest from Royapuram, says victory assured

AIADMK's D Jayakumar will contest the Tamil Nadu Assembly election from the Royapuram constituency. He has held the constituency for around 20 years and has been nominated for a seventh consecutive time.

Tamil Nadu fisheries minister D Jayakumar, a close aide of Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami, has been nominated by the AIADMK from the Royapuram constituency in North Chennai. The Tamil nadu minister is among those few from the DMK who had openly dismissed Sasikala's re-entry into AIADMK. D Jayakumar, known as 'Annan DJ' among his fans, will be contesting from the Royapuram constituency for the seventh time in 2021. Jayakumar earlier emerged victorious from the constituency in 1991, 2001, 2006, 2011, 2016 elections.
