Tamil Nadu Police arrested a Polish national for entering India without a passport. He was reportedly serving a sentence in Sri Lanka. After being released, he had purchased a rubber boat, reached the Indian coast and entered Tamil Nadu illegally.
A Polish national was arrested by the Tamil Nadu Police for illegally entering the Indian borders. The man was arrested after Coast Guard officials were informed that an abandoned rubber boat was found near Kodimaram wildlife sanctuary in Nagapattinam on Sunday morning, July 24.
Police became suspicious because the rubber boat had an adequate supply of water, swimming flippers and an air pump to inflate the boat.
Upon discovering this, search parties were constituted by Coastal Police to comb Nagapattinam and Thiruvarur districts to trace if anyone had illegally entered Tamil Nadu.
While officials were searching the area using drones, they were informed about a foreign national moving suspiciously around near Arukadu in Vedaranyam town .
The man was identified as a Polish national and police sources stated that he was serving a prison sentence in Sri Lanka. Upon being released, he bought the equipment and reached the Indian coast.
The Polish national was arrested for entering Indian borders without a passport. Further investigation is underway.
