Majnu and Kokila did not have any kids. They kidnapped a one-month-old child from Chennai, but were caught by police in three hours at Central railway station when they were waiting to board a train to Bengaluru.
The Tamil Nadu police rescued a one-month-old baby, which was kidnapped by a couple, in three hours. The Kelambakkam police nabbed the couple from MGR Central railway station on Monday, February 1, when they were waiting to board a train to Bengaluru.
Hemanth Kumar of Kelambakkam filed a complaint with the police on Monday that a couple had befriended him and later went missing with his one-month-old child.
The police suspected that the accused would try to leave the city by bus or train. A team led by inspector Magudeeswari searched the Tambaram, Egmore and Central railway and bus stations.
While frisking passengers at the central station, the police noticed a suspicious-looking couple with a baby. When the police confronted and questioned them, they gave contradictory replies.
The accused, Majnu (35) and his wife Kokila (27) from Bengaluru, did not have any kids of their own. So, they came to Chennai to look for one.
They met Hemanth and his wife and befriended them at the railway station. On Monday, the couple told Hemanth’s wife that they were buying milk for the infant from the tea shop.
When the couple did not return after a while, the parents got suspicious and filed a police complaint.
