Tamil Nadu greenlights Rs 5 lakh in aid to children orphaned during Covid-19 pandemic

The state joins several others in announcing financial relief and other benefits to children who lost one or both parents to the devastating second Covid wave.
Tamil Nadu on Saturday joined the list of states that have offered relief measures to children who lost their parents amid the deadly second wave Covid-19. After a meeting between chief minister MK Stalin and senior officials, the state government announced the children who have lost both their parents will receive financial assistance of Rs 5 lakh as a fixed deposit; the child will be able to withdraw the full amount with interest when he or she turns 18. The government will take care of the educational expenses of these orphaned children till graduation, and ensure that they are given priority in getting a place at government-run homes for children.More Related News
