Tamil Nadu CM MK Stalin’s son, Udhayanidhi, while reacting to Ilaiyaraaja’s comments comparing Ambedkar to PM Modi, said, “That is his own opinion. My leader (MK Stalin) has asked us not to react to it. It’s someone’s personal opinion.”
Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin's son, Udayanidhi Stalin, reacted to Ilaiyaraaja comparing Ambedkar with PM Modi and said, “That is his own opinion. My leader (MK Stalin) has asked us not to react to it. It’s someone’s personal opinion.”
Ilaiyaraaja had drawn parallels between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BR Ambedkar in a foreword for a book.
Popular music composer, Ilaiyaraaja, in the foreword to the book "Ambedkar and Modi" said, "Ambedkar will certainly be proud of the Modi regime. Ambedkar and Modi have a lot in common. Both of them have experienced poverty and oppression. This book highlights one thing, and I recommend it to the younger generation".
Political leaders, including Thirumavalavan, strongly opposed Ilaiyaraaja's comments. There have also been various comments against him on social media.
Union Minister L Murugan condemned the hate speech against Ilaiyaraaja and blamed DMK.
On Twitter, he wrote, “What is Ilaiyaraaja sir crime? That he has a point of view which the DMK and their ego-system doesn’t like?. The Constitution of India allows freedom of expression and by denying the same to Ilaiyaraaja sir, DMK has shown its anti-Dalit and anti-Constition nature."
Senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader, JP Nadda, on Monday, condemned the verbal attack on Ilaiyaraaja for praising Prime Minister Narendra Modi and blamed Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) for the verbal assault.
