Tamil Nadu CM MK Stalin grants 30-day leave to Rajiv Gandhi assassination convict Perarivalan
India Today
Arputhammal, the mother of Rajiv Gandhi assassination convict AG Perarivalan, has thanked Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin for granting leave to her son.
Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin has granted a 30-day ordinary leave to AG Perarivalan, who has been serving a life sentence after conviction in the Rajiv Gandhi assassination case. Stalin granted the leave after a request was made by the convict's mother, Arputhammal. Arputhammal had earlier written to the Tamil Nadu chief minister and requested leave for Perarivalan on medical grounds amid the ongoing second Covid-19 wave. She made the request for leave on two grounds. First, the Covid risk Perarivalan faces as he has been put under the 'high-risk category' by the prison doctor due to his health condition and second, Perarivalan still has an unaddressed medical issue for which he requires treatment.More Related News
