A 22-year-old woman filed a complaint of sexual assault with Tamil Nadu's Peelamedu Police Station against an auto driver, identified as Mohammed Sadiq. The complainant, who is employed at a private firm, stated that she booked a ride via an application and the offence was committed on her way back from the workplace.
She mentioned that she was commuting from an educational institution around 12:30 am when the driver allegedly misbehaved and assaulted her. The auto driver reportedly did not stop his undue advances despite her rejection and refusal.
Moreover, he refused to stop the vehicle at her request, compelling the survivor to jump out of the auto. Following this, she sustained injuries to her head and neck and was subsequently taken to the hospital by her friends for medical attention.
Based on the complaint, Peelamedu Police have arrested the 43-year-old. He has been booked under sections 354 (assault or criminal force on woman to outrage modesty), 354(A) (sexual assault) of the Indian Penal Code and section 4 (assault or injury) of the Tamil Nadu Prevention of Harassment Against Women Act.
