The Tamil Nadu assembly on Tuesday, February 8, adopted the anti-NEET Bill again. The Bill was passed unanimously with 230 votes out of 234. Four BJP MLAs walked out of the assembly in protest.
The Bill was sent back to the Speaker by Governor Ravi on February 1.
In the assembly session today, the AIADMK accused Congress of being the reason for NEET. However, CM MK Stalin intervened and stated that the Bill was passed unanimously, but it was sent back. He urged leaders not to cause issues and pass the Bill unanimously.
The chief minister, referring to the communique of Governor Ravi on the return of the bill last week, said the reasons adduced by him were not correct.
Ravi, citing the Justice AK Rajan panel recommendations on NEET, said they were based on "guess," but it was data-driven and based on the opinions furnished by over one lakh people, Stalin said.
Reiterating his government's stand against the qualifying test, he said "NEET is not an education system but only a system to coach medical aspirants."
