Talat Aziz recalled recording with Lata Mangeshkar for the first time at Aaj Tak's Shradhanjali Tum Mujhe Bhula Na Paoge.
Popular ghazal singer Talat Aziz has sung one duet with Lata Mangeshkar. Speaking about his first recording for Bazaar at Aaj Tak's special ode to the Nightingale of India - Shradhanjali Tum Mujhe Bhula Na Paoge, he recalled how she encouraged him when he told her that he was nervous.
Talat Aziz shared that he was quite nervous when he had to record with Lata Mangeshkar for the film Bazaar (1982). He said, "I was quite young when I recorded my first song with Lataji. I had recorded my album but it hadn't released. I had to record with Lata ji. In those days, recording used to happen live and if someone made one mistake the entire recording would go to waste. So, I was very nervous and by mistake, I uttered it to Lata ji, Very simply she told me, 'why are you nervous, you sing well'. And, with the same simplicity, I asked her 'when did you listen to me'. She recalled listening to me on a programme Aarohi. She was not THE Lata Mangeshkar at that time but an elder encouraging a young singer. The song was Phir Chiddi Raat for Bazaar (1982)."
Lata Mangeshkar was cremated with full state honours at Shivaji Park, Mumbai. Sachin Tendulkar and his wife Anjali Tendulkar attended Lata Didi's final rites. Besides Sachin and Anjali, Shah Rukh Khan, Shraddha Kapoor, Rahul Vaidya and other eminent personalities paid last respects to Lata Mangeshkar.
