Tala impresses in Tokyo as Elidrissi makes Games debut

Tokyo: Qatari rower Tala Abujubara claimed the first place in the semi-final E/F 1 race yesterday to qualify for the final E of Women’s Single Scull event to be held on Thursday.

At the Sea Forest Waterway in Tokyo, Tala clocked a time of 8:24:24 minutes to lead the standings ahead of Uganda’s Kathleen Noble, Nigeria’s Esther Toko and Sudan’s Esraa Khogali. Elsewhere, at the Nippon Budokan, Qatar’s star judoka, Ayoub Elidrissi, suffered a defeat at the hands of Belorussia’s Dzmitry Minkou in the Men’s 66kg event.
