Taking cue from Centre, Assam, Bihar, Karnataka reduce VAT on petrol and diesel

Three states on Wednesday reduced the VAT levied on diesel and petrol, hours after the Centre slashed excise duty levied on petroleum products.

Taking a cue from the Centre, the Assam government on Wednesday reduced value-added tax (VAT) on petrol and diesel by Rs 7. The Bihar government, too, announced that it is reducing the VAT on petrol by Re 1.30 and diesel by Rs 1.90.

The Karnataka government also announced its decision to reduce VAT on petrol and diesel by Rs 7.
